I tend to be a person who wears many hats.  I have worked as an EMT and Firefighter for over fourteen years.  During that time, the role I have enjoyed most is training, both participating and presenting.  I am a Basic Life Support Instructor through American Heart Association and National Safety Council as well as being a OSHA compliant Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens Instructor.

Another "trait" passed on to me by my father is involvement in scouting.  As a scout I obtained the ranks of Eagle and Gold Explorer (the highest possible).  Now as my sons are starting their experience in scouting, I am involved as a leader in their unit.  I started out as an Assistant Den Leader and Pack Trainer, and quickly have added a role as the Cub Scout Training Coordinator for the entire District.

I fell into the assisted living field in 2002 when I went to work as a Pharmacy Technician.  As the pharmacy I worked for grew, so did my role.  With some assistance (and gentle prodding) from Jim Murphy at Wisconsin Assisted Living Association (WALA), I developed and received approval to perform some of the training that is required to work in a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF).  After a short time, it became evident that the demand for convenient, high quality training was great.  With some prompting from some of the facilities I was already working with, I became one of a very few people in Wisconsin approved to perform all of the training required to work in a CBRF.

I became very active in the training and regulatory aspects of Assisted Living.  I served as the Chairperson of the Fire Safety Training Advisory Group for the State of Wisconsin as well as serving on several committees through WALA including Spring Conference, Legislative, Golf, and HFS 83 Rewrite.
